ZAREENA COUTURE: Woman as a Flower: SS 2011 Campaign

Local Fashion in the Dubai has always pushed its boundaries to where its creativity brings it. And because it is
a gateway between east and west, one can see an eclectic mix of influences in the designs of Jalabiyas, Kaftans, and Abayas. Dubai, Being a place not short of TALENT, has revolutionized the Modern Arabic Women and how they dressed today.

There is one such local talent that stands out from the rest. Her name is Zareena Yousif.

An Established Emirati Designer who is bespoke to a long list of royalties, monarchs, celebrities and high-profile clientele.  The reason for her success - her unmatched Quality and Craftsmanship.
Her intricate use of Ethnic Embroidery fused with Modern Silhouettes and Fabrics,makes her clothes working pieces of ART.  Her design dynamic of combining South Asian and Northern African influences to basic Arabesque garments is Unprecedented, making her a local trendsetter to be reckoned with.  

IKON is proud to collaborate with Zareena on her latest campaign. And the Inspiration of this collection is the "EMIRATI Art Nouveau" , Woman as a Flower as she calls it.  Incorporating pieces of Art to her dresses was her main mantra.  Zareena's SS 2011 Collection is a revelation of Arabic Craftsmanship, Design, and Aesthetic. Never have we seen a collection that has the same Zareena Elements but with a colorful, playful, and  quant twist to it.  Pastel Colors form most of her palettes for the collection and lush floral ornaments and accents adorn her voluminous chiffon jalabiyas and kaftans.  Contrasting the Floral inspiration, were the elaborately embroidered gowns with exquisite geometric patterns of gold and silver threads. Forming detailed and remarkable artworks on the dresses that were simply astonishing to look at.  We had to device a set that would embody this timeless creation and that would create this dreamy and playful feel. Velvet Magazine's 2nd Issue takes us to a TEN page spread takes as to a 70's Fashion revival with the floral twist to it! After all its Spring and Almost Summer, and nothing can add freshness that to be in the midst of Flora and fauna. Jumpsuits, Hot pants, Flowy, voluminous maxi dresses, A-line Printed Short dresses, Flowy blazers, and don't Forget Wooden CLOGS and Wedges, tons of them!

BE IKONIZED CAMPAIGN /The 2nd Wave/


IKON started its humble beginnings shooting model portfolios and who would have thought it would go mainstream in DUBAI's nouveau fashion market.

Its Constituents had in their hearts a passion for fashion photography. And now that they have synergies their skills and optimized them to fullest, they have come up with this  amazing and original concept, the "BE IKONIZED" Campaign". Its a marketing stunt with the hopes of publicizing not only IKON'S services, vision  and mission, but also to create some sort of MANIA to GLAMOURIZE people of every race, color, or creed.  After All, Dubai is a melting pot of different cultures. IKON made a big Splash during the first WAVE, but the SECOND WAVE-unprecedented!

2011 marks the 2nd wave of the BE IKONIZED Campaign, and what better day to LAUNCH this than on the FIRST DAY of the YEAR!


We have handpicked a good mix of Dubai's Fashion Royalties, and a bunch of equally interesting personalities. 

We know an ICON when we see ONE! 


So what are you waiting for? Be Glamourized, Be Immortalized, Be IKONIZED!!!!

PURITAN MINIMALISM: IKON EXCLUSIVE

There is something about the color WHITE that draws us to it. Some intangible energy that leads us to a serene state. A state of DIVINITY, nirvana, a natural high, or however we may put it.  Its a no-brainer, The Color itself dictates how fashion has unfold over the years.  Its a neutral that has become staple in our closets.  Not only because of its simplicity and utter purity, White is the color of choice of the FUTURE. And having said that, it also comes with a sense of AVERSION. As White in itself  is ANTI-FASHION turned flesh!
